30 Art Studios Enliven Urban Art Festival In Sabang

SABANG, Aceh, Nov 30 (Antara) - Some 30 traditional and modern art studios from the cities of Sabang and Banda Aceh enlivened the Urban Art Festival, which is being held as part of the 2017 Sail Sabang event. Mayor of Sabang Nazaruddin officially opened the festival on Tuesday night during the Sabang Fair event in the Kuta Bawah Timu area. "The Urban Art event is a part of the Sail Sabang event held to attract as many visitors as possible to Sabang," he said. Hundreds of Sabang citizens and domestic tourists were seen attending the opening of the Urban Art Festival that featured some traditional and modern forms of art. "When we have several visitors coming to Sabang, our value will increase, and it is also hoped that it would improve the people's economy," he added. The mayor also thanked Sabang's citizens who have actively participated in maintaining cleanliness in Indonesia's westernmost area. "To all citizens of Sabang, let us ensure that the Sail Sabang event, which began today and ends on Dec 5, is a successful one," he stated. The Sail Sabang event, being held from Nov 28 to Dec 5, is themed "Sabang as World Maritime Tourism Gateway." Ali Taufik, a representative from the Sabang Tourism and Culture Offices, explained that 30 art studio communities are participating in the Urban Art festival, all of which represent the city of Sabang as well as the capital city of Aceh Province. "A bazaar is being organized on the sidelines of the festival. This event aims to entertain the people while at the same time attract tourists to Sabang," he said. The peak of the Sail Sabang event will be held at Sabang Bay or the CT-3 BPKS harbour, Sabang Fair, and the Indonesia Zero Kilometer Monument.
