350 participations in Khalifa bin Salman Press Award

Manama, May 29 (BNA): Under the patronage of HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Information Affairs Ministry stages on next Tuesday the award ceremony for Khalifa bin Salman Press Award, as well as honouring the best press works, comprising opinion columns, reports, interviews and press photos. Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al-Rumaihi extended sincere thanks and appreciations to HRH the Premier for patronizing the award which reflects his constant support for journalists' expression of their opinions independently and responsibly under the democratic and cultural openness prevailing during the prosperous era of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The minister expressed appreciation of the participation of 350 journalistic works that embodies the common recognition of the press and media importance in protecting the national achievements and gains and promoting the democratic, economic and social development march. He added that the jury committee have set a cluster principles and criteria in selecting the winners based on commitment to the values of accuracy, objectivity, impartiality, credibility of expression, as well as the respect for intellectual rights and principles of human rights and national and cultural constants that call for tolerance and national unity, protection of national security and public morals, and the rejection of calls of sectarian dividing and religious and racial hatred. He stressed keenness to develop the award to include various media and press fields to motivate journalists to be more creative and to perform their national and humanitarian duties and to promote the development process under the royal leadership.
