4 arrested on counterfeiting documents

BANGKOK, April 9 (TNA) -- Police have arrested four persons and charged them of counterfeiting university certificates and official documents, said Bangkok police chief Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahathavorn. Police first apprehended a man and a woman in the northeastern province of Surin and later arrested another man and woman in Ubon Ratchathani province, said Pol Lt Gen Sanit. The two groups were not linked as they operated similar illegal services. After searching their houses in the two provinces, police found a large amount of fake educational certificates, bank account books and computers, he said. Kittivat Charnwimolvat, 23, a suspect who was arrested in Surin, reportedly told police during an interrogation that he had operated the illegal service through a Facebook over two years and about 500 people had used his service. Most of his customers used fake educational certificates for applying jobs and that he charged each customer between 3,500 – 9,800 baht for the service, said Mr Kittivat. Using counterfeit official documents will face an imprisonment of between six months to five years or a fine of between 1,000 – 10,000 baht, Pol Lt Gen Sanit added.
