AA aims to broadcast news stories in 11 languages

ANKARA (A.A) - Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said on Wednesday that Anadolu Agency (AA) aimed to broadcast news stories in 11 languages.
The agency would start to broadcast news reports in Arabic and Bosnian languages soon, Arinc said during inauguration of Anadolu Agency (AA) Journalism Academy in Ankara.
Anadolu Agency's journalism and media academy opened its doors on Tuesday with a ceremony held at AA headquarters in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
Arinc said that Anadolu Agency was making important initiatives and fulfilling important projects.
The agency had several important objectives for its 100th anniversary, he said.
Deputy Premier Arinc said that AA aimed to be included in the five leading news agencies in the world.
Arinc said that quality in media would eradicate all darkness.
What is important is to catch the light, show what is beautiful and embrace the good and truth, Arinc said.
Wherever I went as a politician, I always found the Anadolu Agency as a loyal and trustable friend, Arinc noted.
I realize that there is no rule saying that the graduates of communications faculties would be employed in the media. The private sector and all fields in life need communication, Arinc underlined.
I believe that we need to cooperate more with communication faculties, Arinc stressed.
He said the government was working on how to adapt internet media to the Press Law, stating that efforts were under way regarding the Press Law.
"We are trying to adapt internet media to the Press Law," he said.
Arinc said journalism was not just writing, editing and broadcasting a story today, but journalists should make well use of all technological opportunities.
Bulent Arinc highlighted importance of media ethics, and said everybody had to obey the rules, adding that AA would be mentioned more from now on with its renovations and progress.
"This is a historic day for the Anadolu Agency. 'New generation journalists' of the Middle East, Central Asia and the Balkans will be trained by the Anadolu Agency," Director General and Executive Board Chairman Kemal Ozturk told the ceremony.
Ozturk said the academy program included agency journalism, general news media, war journalism, adding that 38 students have been selected for the first 4-month term of the academy.
Ozturk said the instructors of the academy included veteran journalists, photojournalists, businesspeople as well as politicians.
