Abu Dhabi police grant boys’ wish to become officers

Abu Dhabi, Dec 30, 2012 (WAM) - The Abu Dhabi Police Department has fulfilled the wish of Faisal Abdullah, aged 8, and Nayif Tariq Bader, 10, in becoming police officers for one day. The two boys were given the rank of captain “and carried out the duty of police officers. Faisal and Nayif took a tour in a police traffic patrol vehicle through the streets of Abu Dhabi and gave traffic violation cards to two drivers. Maj Gen Nasser Likhraibani Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Office of Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, received the two boys and urged them to perform their duties in an excellent manner and to be on top of their class to become a model for their classmates. He presented the two boys with a commemorative gift in the presence of Colonel Faisal Sultan Al Shuaibi, director of Strategic Administration and Performance Development at the Abu Dhabi Police Department. Colonel Al Shuaibi received the two boys at his office while they were dressed as officers, accompanied by their parents, and he urged them to excel in their studies and to graduate from the Police Academy and achieve their wish to become police officers. The two boys toured the central operation room at the police headquarters and were received by Lieutenant Colonel Nasser Al Maskery, director of operations at the police department, along with a number of other officers who explained the function and duties of the police operation room, and how reports are received on 999 to be diverted to the appropriate sections. Faisal and Nayif were given the chance to receive an imaginary report in the operation room regarding a traffic accident where they wrote down the information as received, while making sure that there were no injured people in the accident. They called the nearest patrol to head towards the location of the imaginary accident. – Gulf News
