Academicians from several countries work at a university in southeastern Turkey

MARDIN (A.A) - February 27, 2012 - 15 academicians from several countries have been working at a university in southeastern province of Mardin. Lecturers from the United States, France, Britain, Germany, Egypt, Australia, Kyrgyzstan, Italy, Iran, Ireland, Iraq and Syria are working at Mardin Artuklu University which was established five years ago. Speaking to AA correspondent, Prof. Dr. Brikha Nasoriah from Faculty of Arts, said, "I came here from Australia. I have master's degrees as well as doctor's degrees in Judaism, Islam and comparative religions." Mardin province, which was in the north of Mesopotamia, was a good model with respect to several researches, Nasoriah said. Associate Professor Mark Solieu, a lecturer at Anthropology Department, said that he was American and earlier worked in Istanbul, Ankara and southern province of Antalya. Solieu said he loved Mardin and the province was an extraordinary place with its natural beauty, historical background, architecture and people. "Mardin is a multicultural and multi-lingual province with several religions. Mardin is special. Turks, Kurds, Arabs and Assyrians are living there. I love here," he said. Rector Prof. Dr. Bedii Omay described Mardin as the last Middle Age province in Anatolia, saying that Mardin Artuklu University was one of the third generation universities.
