ADFD grants Dh 39.5 million to Al Noor Association for culture and development in Palestine

Abu Dhabi, May 13, 2013 (WAM) - Through a financial grant ADFD Prop up the Palestinian social life The centre will have an active role by involving citizens and discuss their needs and problems. Abu Dhabi, 12th May 2013 (WAM) : Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a grant valued at Dh 39.5 million committed by ADFD to Al Noor Association for culture and development in Palestine. The MoU was signed in ADFD headquarters by Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Acting Director General of ADFD, and Dr. Ahmed Al Tibi, President of the Al Noor Association. The grant will be allocated to build a community centre aims to provide educational services and cultural programs, which will raise awareness in the various fields of social, educational, health and cultural relations between the Palestinian people. Al Suwaidi said: "This grant embodies the close brotherly relations that have linked the UAE and state of the Palestine over the last decades." He also added that "Abu Dhabi government is always keenness to contribute significantly to the provision of the elements of a decent living at Palestinian territories despite the ordeals and difficulties", pointing to the many initiatives and steps taken by the Government in this regard in order to lay the foundations for economic and social stability for the citizen of the Palestinian Authority territories. For his part, Dr. Al Tibi showed his highly appreciation to the government of Abu Dhabi, where he confirmed the depth of historical fraternal ties between the UAE and Palestinian peoples, and the exceptional initiatives which Abu Dhabi government undertake towards Palestine in the most difficult times. He also praised the active role played by ADFD in pushing forward the sustainable development process in Palestine through its grants and the supervision of government's grants. Commenting on the establishment of the Educational-cultural Centre, Al Tibi said, "the centre will have an active role by involving citizens and discuss their needs and problems and work to raise their level of education and culture background, as well as the centre will provide a proper care for young people and take advantage of their energies into development of the society by organising many events, educational courses and theatrical performances." The ADFD involvement in Palestine goes back to 1999. The Fund has since then offered and managed 3 grants allocated for three projects covering vital sectors, including housing, education and social development sectors. With this current grant, the total assistance provided to Palestine given and managed by ADFD on behalf of the Abu Dhabi government now amounts to more than Dh 469 million. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
