Age limit set for imported cars registration

Manama, Dec. 20 (BNA): The Director of Licensing Affairs Department in the General Directorate of Traffic (GDT), Lt-Colonel Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, said that starting from May 1, no vehicle imported from abroad will be registered if it is more than five years old. The age limit applies to private cars, private passenger transport vehicles and motorbikes while a ten year limit will be imposed on private cargo cars, locomotives, trailers and semi-trailers. The decision is in compliance with clause 98 of the Executive Code of the Traffic Law 23/2014, Shaikh Abdulrahman said. Classic and historic automobiles and cars with special specifications will be exempted from the limit, he added.
