Agriculture Ministry to follow late Thai King’s path

BANGKOK, October 19 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives will continue working on royally-initiated projects of late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Thai Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister General Chatchai Sarikulya told journalists of the policy on Wednesday, saying that his ministry is aimed at having new 70,000 farmers applying the New Theory, initiated by late His Majesty the King. General Chatchai noted that next year will be designated as the Year of Safe Agriculture to promote the elimination of chemical residues in all Thai farm products. Late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s “New Theory” suggests that farmers apply the essence of his royally-advised Sufficiency Economy Principle, namely the moderation and self-immunity to their practice of farming to shield them from risks and impacts of the globalization and other uncontrollable factors in their farming. Meanwhile, as Thai people are now wearing black clothes to mourn the demise of the late and beloved Thai monarch, the agriculture minister revealed that the Queen Sirikit Department of Sericulture in Kasetsart University in Bangkok's Bangkhen area and all 21 sericulture centers across the country are offering a free service for people to dye their clothes black throughout this month. Late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyaej, the world's longest-reigned Thai monarch, passed away peacefully at Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital on October 13 at the age of 89. (TNA)
