Akylbek Zhaparov meets with Head of EU Delegation to Kyrgyz Republic Marilyn Yosefson

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov met with Ambassador, Head of the European Union Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic Marilyn Yosefson, the press service of the Cabinet reported. “The dynamics of bilateral interaction and interregional contacts is qualitatively increasing every year, the trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and the countries of the European Union is growing. We are ready for further deepening and expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation with the EU,” Akylbek Zhaparov said. He noted that the Kyrgyz side is interested in cooperation with the European Union on the introduction of successful low-carbon circular economy models, realizing the importance of the "green" transformation of the economy and resource conservation in the context of climate change mitigation. “We are also interested in further building up cooperation with the countries of the region and the European Union in the field of direct investment in energy, the construction of hydro power plants and the development of renewable energy sources,” Akylbek Zhaparov said. The chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers also touched upon the issues of visa facilitation for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic and employment in the EU countries. Marilyn Yosefson, in turn, expressed her readiness to strengthen and further develop bilateral cooperation. She noted the interest in implementing initiatives aimed at developing a green economy and digitalization.
