Al-Ahsa Oasis enters UNESCO list

Manama, June 29 (BNA): The Ahsa Oasis has officially entered the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites.
The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) President His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud today announced the listing of the iconic oasis during the meeting of the World Heritage Committee in Bahrain.
Located in the Eastern province, Al-Ahsa Oasis thus becomes the 5th sites to feature on the world heritage list.
Saudi Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Paris-based UNESCO Dr. Ibrahim Youssef Al-Balawi thanked the Kingdom of Bahrain for hosting the 42nd meeting of the World Heritage Committee.
He commended the outstanding organization of the global cultural event, stressing the crucial historical and cultural importance of Al-Ahsa Oasis.
He said that Saudi Arabia abounds in landmark historical sites, which bear witness to its rich heritage and longstanding civilizational legacy.
Dr. Al-Balawi commended the Arab states, particularly the Kingdom of Bahrain, Kuwait and Tunisia.
