Al Ain Zoo to enhance Bird House exhibit

Abu Dhabi (WAM): Al Ain Zoo s Bird House is to undergo enhancements during the summer months. The Bird House will be temporarily closed starting from this month until the completion of the renovations. The improvements in the Bird House will include the introduction of a new internal cooling system and animal related educational graphics.
The Bird House home to 300 birds of18 different species is divided into two areas. The first area includes numerous types of birds such as the Houbara bustard, the long-tailed glossy starling, the long-tailed purple starling, the peach-faced lovebird, the crested lark, the stone curlew, and the spotted thick-knee.
The second area is home to a family of penguins, who have been at Al Ain Zoo for over 25 years, starting with just a few and now reaching over 30 birds, all of which were born at the zoo.
The renovations taking place will be based on the highest international standards, as part of Al Ain Zoo s ongoing efforts to position itself as a leading zoo both regionally and globally. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
