Al Maktoum Mosque opens in Dundee, Scotland

Dundee: The new1.35 million Sterling Pound Al Maktoum Mosque near Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education (AMCHE) campus in Dundee was opened by UAE Ambassador to the UK Abdul Rahman Ghanem Al Mutaiwee. The mosque was built under the patronage and generous contribution of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE minister of finance. The built area of the 3-storey mosque is 650-square meter of the total area of 1,650 meters. The mosque is designed to accommodates 160 male and 100 female worshippers. In addition to the prayers halls, it also has a hall for meetings and events. Present at the opening ceremony were Mirza Al Sayegh, Chairman of the AMCHE's Board of Trustees, Dr Ahmed bin Hazeem, Director of Dubai Courts, Lord Elder, Chancellor of AMCHE and Hussein Halawa, Imam of the Islamic Cultural Centre in Dublin. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
