Anadolu Agency to chair Asia Pacific news agencies meeting in Thailand

BANGKOK (A.A) - December 13, 2011 - The Organization of Asia Pacific News Agencies (OANA) will convene under the chairmanship of Anadolu Agency (AA) in Bangkok, Thailand. Thailand News Agency will host the meeting which will be held on Wednesday in Thailand where OANA had been established in 1961. AA Director General and OANA President Kemal Ozturk will deliver a speech in the meeting which will also be participated by Thailand's Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. AA will chair a round-table meeting within the scope of the gathering. OANA is an association of news agencies from UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) member states in the Asia-Pacific region. It was formed in 1961 on UNESCO's initiative. OANA has 44 national news agencies from 33 countries. OANA members have gathered 14 times so far, and the organization held its last meeting in Istanbul, Turkey last year, and handed over the presidency to Anadolu Agency.
