ANOTHER 71 INDONESIANS EVACUATED FROM YEMEN
Jakarta, April 8 (Antara) - The Indonesian team managed to evacuate and repatriate another 71 citizens from Yemen as the conflict continues to escalate, the Foreign Affairs Ministry stated here on Wednesday.
"Today, the Indonesian team will repatriate another 71 citizens from Yemen," the ministry's spokesman, Arrmanatha Nasir, noted here on Wednesday.
According to Nasir, the first group comprising 11 repatriated Indonesians will arrive on board a flight from Yemen via Djibouti here on Wednesday night," he pointed out.
Meanwhile, the second group of 60 evacuees will be flown into Jakarta through Salalah.
The Emirates Airline flight from Muscat, carrying 60 citizens on board, is scheduled to arrive in Jakarta at 10:30 p.m. local time.
Furthermore, Arrmanatha remarked that there is still one group comprising 47 people who are attempting to get out of Yemen through Tareem and will then move towards Salalah. The group comprises 43 Indonesians, two Britons, and two Americans.
In addition, he pointed out that there are 300 Indonesian citizens in Tareem who are keen to be evacuated from Yemen.
"Then, there are about 200 Indonesian citizens who are willing to be evacuated," he stated.
Earlier, on Saturday, (April 4), the Indonesian evacuation acceleration team, which departed from Jakarta on Thursday, (April 2), had managed to enter Tareem city through the Yemen-Oman border and have been coordinating with the Indonesian citizens located in Tareemm Al Mukalla and other cities within the Hadhramaut area to make necessary preparations for the evacuation process.
One of the efforts made by the team was to convince the Indonesian citizens to leave the conflict-torn nation.
The evacuation team dispatched by the Government of Indonesia comprises 43 personnel, including 14 from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 21 belonging to the Air Force, seven Police, and three from the National Intelligence Agency (BIN).
The team is constantly looking for ways to immediately, safely, and efficiently evacuate all citizens in Yemen.
The Indonesian citizens' evacuation operation in Yemen also involves five Indonesian representatives from the Embassy in Sanaa, Embassy in Riyadh, Embassy in Muscat, Embassy in Addis Ababa, and the Consulate General in Jeddah.
