Applications for Qualifying Foreign Law Practice Licence Open July 1

SINGAPORE, June 25 (Bernama) -- Application forms for the second round of the Qualifying Foreign Law Practice (QFLP) licence will be available on the Ministry of Law QFLP website from 12 am (Singapore time) on July 1. The ministry said the QFLP scheme, introduced in 2008, allows Foreign Law Practices (FLPs) that are awarded the QFLP licence, to practise “permitted areas” of Singapore law. Six foreign law practitioners (FLPs) were awarded the QFLP licence in December 2008. The deadline for submission of completed application forms is 4 pm (Singapore time) on Aug 31. To obtain access to the QFLP website, interested FLP practitioners are required to register as an applicant with the ministry. A non-refundable fee of S$1,000 (US$780) is applicable for the issuance of a user name and password. For further queries, law firms may contact the ministry at MLAW_QFLP_Consultation@mlaw.gov.sg. -- BERNAMA
