Arab labour pioneer honoured

Cairo, Apr. 11 (BNA): The Arab Labour Organisation (ALO) has honoured Bahraini national and pan-Arab labour pioneer Kamel Saleh Al Saleh the former director and founder of the Arab Labour and Social Development Ministers Executive Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, as part of the 43rd Arab Labour Conference session held in Cairo on April 10-16. Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation headed by Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, attended the honouring ceremony. Minister Humaidan said the Kingdom of Bahrain is proud for one of its loyal sons meritoriously being honoured, especially as his record has always been teeming with accomplishments at the national, GCC and pan-Arab levels. Al Saleh has had extensive and rich experience during his career in the government success and has proven his managerial, scientific and technical efficiency. He was tasked by the government in 1978 in founding the Arab Labour and Social Development Ministers Executive Office in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, citing his role and contributions in laying the foundation of technical and organisational frames for launching coordinative and integrated cooperation on labour and social development. He also won the trust of GCC labour and social development ministers who renewed his term five times between 1978 and 2000. Al Saleh had joined the diplomatic corps in December 2001 and was appointed as ambassador at the Foreign Ministers' court. He was also appointed as ambassador extraordinaire of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Iran, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan where he performed outstanding services to the Kingdom of Bahrain and consolidated its historic ties with these countries. He participated in formulation of Bahrain Economic Vision2030, as well as in the National Dialogue sessions in July 2011. Kamel Saleh Al Saleh was honoured by His Majesty the King's conferring on him the Bahrain First-class Medal in appreciation of his national efforts, and was accordingly was issued a certification by the Royal Court for this high medal in May 2003.
