Arab Summit/ Qatar's Arab League Representative to QNA: HH the Amir's Participation in Algeria Summit Underscores Keenness to Promote Arab Solidarity

Algiers, October 30 (QNA) - HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League Salem Mubarak Al Shafi underlined that the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the 31st Ordinary Arab Summit in Algeria reflects the strong relationship between His Highness the Amir and HE President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which stems from His Highness’ keenness to solidify and consolidate the Qatar-Algeria relations at all levels and the willingness of the leaders of the two countries to contribute to the success of the Arab summit and promoting the joint Arab action and Arab solidarity in countering challenges. In his exclusive statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE pointed out that the State of Qatar remains at the forefront of any effort or initiative dedicated to uniting the Arab ranks, alleviating the suffering of the vulnerable people, including the effective and constructive discussion in the issues that concern the region. His Excellency hailed the cooperation and fraternal relationship that links the State of Qatar with the Republic of Algeria at the official and popular levels and extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Republic of Algeria- leadership, Government and People- for the generous hospitality and good reception, in addition to the enormous efforts made and still being made for the success of 31st Ordinary Arab Summit. He also congratulated the leadership, government and the people of Algeria on the 58th anniversary of the liberation revolution that was a beacon and model for the countries in regaining their freedom and independence. With regard to the key files laid out for Arab leaders in their 31st summit, HE the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the Arab League said that the region is undergoing a momentous political period both at the regional and international levels, which is reflected on the agenda abound with numerous vital topics concerning the Arab issues and are in favor of promoting the interrelations at all levels. He explained that there are multiple political, economic and social files incorporated into the summit agenda, including permanent items with the Palestinian cause coming at the forefront, along with the latest developments in the occupied territories, the latest developments in Libya, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Sudan, as well as other files pertaining to the Arab economic cooperation and trade exchange, the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) and Arab Customs Union. His Excellency pointed out that there is an agenda that will be considered by the Council of the Arab League both at the delegates and ministerial levels before it is submitted to the Council at the summit level. The independence of Palestine state was proclaimed in the Arab Summit hosted by Algeria in 1988. HE added that he anticipates further Arab support to the Palestine cause in Algeria summit, including the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent and sovereign state within the borders of June 4,1967 with the Jerusalem as its capital. Regarding Arab League reform, His Excellency said that such topic is not new and of course there are resolutions issued by the Council of Arab League concerning the overhaul of Arab League, along with the task forces that have been systematically operating in this direction for a while. With regard to handling the current international economic challenges by the Arab Summit, His Excellency said that there are numerous items concerning the Arab economic and trade cooperation that are included for deliberations during the summit, due to the profound significance of this file, especially with the consecutive warnings from the experts that the world should brace for a global economic recession, along with the concerns surrounding the inflation and food security, indicating that such matters require enormous efforts in this field to achieve further cooperation, coordination and Arab integration to counter and curb them, in addition to reducing their impacts as much as possible, emphasizing that the Arab summit is indubitably the best platform for that. Sport generally unites all people, despite diverse cultures, affiliations and territories, and it is a rare humanitarian opportunity to show unity, happiness and celebration, especially at a time the world is suffering from uncertainty and multiple challenge, HE said, adding that that the tournament represents a real opportunity to have a closer look into the beauty of the Arab culture and meet those who represent and embody this culture. In his closing remarks, HE Al Shafi noted that the Arab welcome to the State of Qatar’s hosting of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 exists at the official and popular levels.
