Asean-India Car Rally 2012 Carries Communities
Jakarta, Nov 27 (ANTARA) - The ASEAN-India Car Rally 2012 has officially been launched to bring community connectivity among communities in the regions.
According to the press statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Cooperation Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja said in Yogyakarta, Central Java, on Monday, the ASEAN-India Car Rally 2012 which is followed by 79 participants from ASEAN countries and India, has the mission of strengthening ties among the ASEAN and India societies.
"The people to people contact is the most important thing with regard to strengthening ties among the ASEAN and India communities as new opportunities would come from the communities," said Puja.
He added Indonesia has a lot of potentials to offer to ASEAN nations in order to reach the community connectivity goals.
"This can be maximized through strong people to people connectivity," said Puja.
Representative for External Affairs Ministry of India P S Raghavan expected stronger ties between ASEAN-India, especially Indonesia, from the event.
"We do hope our relationship would be stronger built upon people to people connection through this car rally event," he said.
Meanwhile, the Ambassador of India for Indonesia Gurjit Singh noted the importance of inter-connectivity among communities of the regions.
"Building the close feeling is the main focus of the car rally event which has also become one of the 20th ASEAN-India relationship anniversary commemorative events," he said.
The 79 ASEAN-India Car Rally participants will take routes in Indonesia along the Borobudur Temple through Ketep By Pass and end up in Solo, Central Java, on Tuesday (Nov, 27).
After Solo, the 79 participants will fly to Singapore and then cross Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar until the finish in Guwahati City, India.
