Asghar Farhadi on jury panel of Berlinale

TEHRAN,Dec.21(MNA) -- Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi was selected for the jury panel of the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival -- Berlinale, organizers announced on their website on Monday. His “Nader and Simin, a Separation” took the festival by storm in 2011. It won a Golden Bear and two Silver Bears for the performances of the ensemble. It was chosen to represent Iran as its submission for the Academy Awards for best foreign language film in 2012. In 2009, Farhadi won a Silver Bear for Best Director with his film “About Elly”. This year’s Berlinale will take place from February 9 to 19, 2012. British filmmaker Mike Leigh will preside over the jury, which also includes Dutch photographer, designer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn and French-British actress Charlotte Gainsbourg. The other members of the jury will be American actor Jake Gyllenhaal, French director and screenwriter François Ozon, Algerian writer Boualem Sansal and German actress Barbara Sukowa.
