Authorities prepares measures to resppnse heavy rainfall

BANGKOK, Oct 21 (TNA) -- The Interior Ministry’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department has cooperated with authorities of 33 provinces, including Bangkok, to temporarily evacuate people, if necessary, from today until next Thursday on high expectations that heavy rainfall are to hit Thailand. Chayabol Thitisak, director-general of the Department, said weather forecast by the Meteorological Department said that strong high pressure from China is expected to move to the upper part of Thailand between the said period, causing heavy storm and heavy rainfall in several areas. Heavy downpour is expected to hit 33 provinces, except the West and the South regions, from today until October 23, said Mr Chayabol. He said concerned government officials are ordered to monitor the weather and water situations closely. (TNA)
