Azerbaijani Foreign Minister: Initiatives on aid to Palestinian people important for all Islamic world

Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 June / Trend S.Agayeva / Initiatives for assisting the Palestinian people have a great importance not only for the Palestinian people, but also for the whole Muslim world, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov said at an international donor conference on financing the strategic plan of sectoral development of the city of Al-Quds. "We believe that in the coming years, Palestine will become a full member of the UN," Mammadyarov said. Azerbaijan supports and will continue supporting Palestine, he said. The conference in Baku will have a positive impact on the development process of Al-Quds, and Azerbaijan undertook the responsibility of organizing an international conference on the issue, Mammadyarov added. On Tuesday Baku is hosting the founding conference of the Islamic Financial Security Network for aid to the Palestinian state and a donor conference for supporting the development of the city of Al-Quds. The conference is attended by representatives of several international organizations, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), ISESCO, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development, and the Islamic Development Bank. The event is also attended by representatives of the OIC member countries: foreign ministers, officials of foreign offices as well as heads and members of diplomatic missions accredited in Baku.
