BAC participates in CAPA Global Airport Leaders’ Forum

Manama, May 12 (BNA): Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah, shared his views on the key strategic issues and challenges facing airports operations at the CAPA Global Airport Leaders’ Forum which was held in Dubai on 7th May 2018. Organised by CAPA –Centre for Aviation, a global aviation knowledge firm specialising in research, market analysis and data, the forum featured a series of engaging panel discussions with prominent aviation professionals. They explored a variety of topics centered on how airports can adapt their business models, implement smart innovations and embrace partnerships with airlines to flourish in a digital age. Al Binfalah participated in the panel discussions: ‘Can airports achieve deep and meaningful relationships with airlines?’ and ‘How can airports diversify their income streams as new technology comes online?’He highlighted that Bahrain International Airport (BIA)has numerous longstanding partnerships with leading airlines which are a crucial component of the airport’s success. He also emphasised that new technology would play an important role at the new Passenger Terminal Building, as per the Airport Modernisation Programme’s digitalisation strategy. The strategy will incorporate a master integration model, new interfaces to existing applications, the concept of a smart airport platform, revamped networks and data centres, cloud-based software, a site test facility and increased cyber security. Such investments in the information and communications technology platform will help transform BIA into a world-class boutique airport and increase the aviation sector’s contribution to the national economy in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.
