BACA cultural programme 2018 concludes

Manama, Nov.28 (BNA): The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Authority (BACA) has concluded its 2018 programme, which was held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. It hosted a special ceremony at the Bahrain National Theatre, to celebrate the Muharraq Capital of Islamic Culture 2018. The event was attended by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) director-general Dr. Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, BACA President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, Islamic ministers of culture, diplomats and media personalities. Addressing the ceremony, she stressed the importance of the Bahrain National Theatre, which was opened in 2012, with the support of HM the King. She said that the opening of the cultural milestone coincided in 2012 with inclusion of the Pearl Path on the UNESCO list for Human Heritage Sites. She hailed the opening of the Pearl Path Visitors’ Centre, which was held under the patronage of HM the King. The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) director-general Dr. Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri extended thanks to HM the King for his patronage. He also commended the strenuous efforts led by BACA President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa to promote culture, heritage and antiquities in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Sudanese Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Omer Suleiman Adam, Chairman of the 10th Culture Ministers’ Islamic Conference was honoured in recognition of his efforts to carry out the implementation of the resolutions. Beit Al-Quran Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Abdullatif Kanoo was also presented with a shield in acknowledgement of his role in setting the milestone which contributes to spreading Islamic values. The extraordinary Islamic conference for the ministers of culture will open tomorrow, November 29, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in the presence of ministers representing 57 countries, in addition to heads of regional and international organisations.
