Bahrain’s development strides hailed

Manama, Sep.2 (BNA): A Tribute was paid to His majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, the architect of the reform project which laid the foundations for human rights and development strides. "The values underlying Bahrain’s human rights development stem from the reform project which was initiated by HM the King", said Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabur al-Doseri. He hailed HM the King’s crucial role in promoting human rights, spearheading national development and embarking on a mature democratic process that engages citizens in public life. He underlined the Government’s success in translating the royal vision into landmark human rights, civil, political, social and cultural achievements and strides, under the programme themed "Towards a Just, Secure and Prosperous Society". He stressed the viability of the programme which, he said, meets citizens and residents needs and rights, paves the way to upgrade national laws and legislations and established advanced national mechanisms. In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), he paid tribute to HM the King for spearheading a blueprint to achieve sustainable development goals, commending the 2030 Economic Vision which aims at developing the national economy, promoting human rights, spurring growth, improving citizens’ per capita and enhancing the living, in addition to boosting productivity. Al-Doseri underlined Bahrain’s marked contributions to international multiparty initiatives and efforts with countries and organisations, through its membership in UN committees and active participation in exchanging expertise. He cited particularly the launch of the Isa Award for Service to Humanity, the inauguration of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence and the UN adoption of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Award for Women Empowerment. He underlined other landmark initiatives to care for people with special needs, combat human trafficking, protect expatriates’ rights and reform the labour market. "Bahrain presented its third national report of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) in 2017, winning the praise of 75 states out of 83 countries", he said, which reflects international interest and recognition of the Kingdom’s efforts and initiatives.
