Bahrain’s parliamentary diplomacy successful

Manama, July 26 (BNA): Chairman of the Services Committee at the Council of Representatives, MP Abbas Al-Madhi, will take part in the international monitoring team of the general elections in Cambodia, set to be held on Sunday to elect members of the sixth National Assembly. Al-Madhi will hold meetings with the representatives of the Cambodian political parties and the National Election Committee ahead of the Sunday’s vote. He will also, along with an international team, visit the polling stations, monitor the vote count and participate in preparing a detailed report on the general elections in Cambodia. In a statement he made while leaving for Cambodia, Al-Madhi said that he was participating in the international monitoring team at the invitation of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, in recognition of Bahrain’s democratic experience, as well as fair and transparent elections. He affirmed that the directives of the Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla, to activate parliamentary diplomacy have yielded fruitful results. He extended thanks to the Asian Parliamentary Assembly for inviting him to be among international monitors of the Cambodian general elections, which, he said, reflects comfidence in Bahrain.
