Bahrain attends NATO meeting

Brussels, Oct.3 (BNA): Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Belgium and Representative to the European Union and NATO Dr. Bahia Jawad Al Jishi participated in a joint meeting between the North Atlantic Council and the Member States of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels on Wednesday, 2 October 2019. The Ambassador, in a statement, commended the continued political and military cooperation between the Member States of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative and NATO. She pointed out the Kingdom's contribution to the maintenance of international peace and security and public diplomacy citing the meeting of the working group of the Warsaw Ministerial Conference on peace and Security in the Middle East. Al Jishi also said the Kingdom of Bahrain would host the second edition of the Bahrain International Defence Exhibition & Conference on 28-30 October 2019 and the Manama Dialogue Conference, organized in cooperation with the International Center for Strategic Studies (IISS) in November 2019. She congratulated Kuwait on hosting a celebration marking the 50th Anniversary of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative and hailed the Kuwait Regional Centre’s organization of several workshops and training courses for the member –states, highlighting NATO’s efforts in combating terrorism in the region. The Ambassador concluded her statement by stressing the need to continue cooperation with NATO in a number of areas such as counter-terrorism, cybersecurity and crisis management to strengthen regional and international security.
