Bahrain to build cardiac centre in Yemen
Geneva, Apr. 3 (BNA): Bahrain is going to build a cardiac centre in Yemen, in response to the global call to support the brotherly Yemeni people, it was announced here.
The kind gesture follows directives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and under the patronage of HM the King’s Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, and Board of Trustees Chairman of the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO), HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The announcement was made during the kingdom’s participation in the second High-Level Pledging Event for the Humanitarian Crisis in Yemen, following directives from HM the King.
Deputised by HH Shaikh Nasser, and in coordination with the Foreign Minister, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, RCO Secretary-General, Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayyed, took part in the event, organised here by the UN, in collaboration with Switzerland and Sweden.
Addressing the conference, Dr. Al-Sayyed announced that the kingdom was working on building a cardiac centre in Yemen, in line with the directives of HM the King and patronage of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad, as part of its efforts to support the brotherly Yemeni people, lauding the support of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and the backing of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
RCO secretary-general highlighted the contributions of the kingdom, represented by RCO, to the Yemen, citing a 1000-tonne shipment of relief and humanitarian aid, as well as the constant cooperation with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.
He stressed that despite the scarcity of its resources and the pressure on its general budget, Bahrain continues to enhance the development process for its citizens, and to deliver support to stricken peoples in brotherly and friendly countries.
On the sidelines of the international conference, Dr. Al-Sayyed held meetings with many international personalities and leaders, who commended the efforts of Bahrain, under the leadership of HM the King, to deliver aid and assistance to stricken peoples across the world.
