Bahrain deplores instigative statements

Manama, June 22 (BNA): Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Regional and GCC Affairs Waheed Mubarak Sayyar today met Iraqi Ambassador Bahrain, Dr. Ahmed Nayef Rasheed Al Dulaimi, and brought to his attention Bahrain’s strong dissatisfaction and rejection of the instigative statements, recently issued by certain Iraqi individuals and sides. He described these statements as unacceptable interference in Bahrain's internal affairs and reflective of negative intentions, which do not get along with the nature of relations linking the two states nor do they suit Bahrain’s unflinching policies that support Iraq’s security and stability. Considering the Iraqi statements a clear violation of the Arab League’s charter, Ambassador Sayyar said that each country has the right to take whatever measures it deems fit to ensure the security and safety of its citizens and residents and to stave off any blatant interference in its internal affairs. He urged the Iraqi government to assume its role and to immediately take the necessary measures to preserve the fraternal relations between the two countries, halt whatever may damage bilateral relations and to cease issuing such irresponsible statements that seem to be unaware of the sizable dangers and challenges facing the Arab States and which necessitate solidarity.
