Bahrain elected member of UN Committee on NGOs

New York, Apr. 17 (BNA): Bahrain was elected a member of the United Nations Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in New York. The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations, Ambassador Jamal Fares Al-Ruwaie, after the announcement of the win of the Kingdom of Bahrain on Monday 16, April 2018, said that this occurred as a result of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to intensify efforts and strive to raise the name of the Kingdom of Bahrain in international forums and to ensure that the Kingdom occupies its seat as a vital member within the United Nations. The voting was in favour of the Kingdom of Bahrain, India, Pakistan and China and the exit of Iran from the United Nations Economic and Social Council for the period of 4 years 2019-2022, the Permanent Representative affirmed the support of the diplomatic missions of the Kingdom of Bahrain by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, which facilitated the performance of its duties in highlighting the name of the Kingdom in international forums until it gained trust, good reputation and respect among the international community.
