Bahrain Embassy in Cairo marks Bahrain Sports Day

Manama, Feb. 10 (BNA): The Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Arab Republic of Egypt today organized sports activities for its members to celebrate Bahrain Sports Day. This was in line with the decision of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and in implementation of the initiative of Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and with the follow-up of the Bahrain Olympic Committee led by First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Chairman of the General Sports Authority, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The allocation of a day for sports activities reflects the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to preserve the health and safety of citizens. The Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, HE Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, witnessed the celebration which was held today at the Youth Development Center in Gezira where he stressed that the diplomatic relations between the Egyptian and Bahraini sides are distinguished in various fields. He noted that the convergence of views between the political leaders in both countries, greatly reflected on the two brotherly peoples and enhanced joint Arab cooperation, indicating that sport has the ability to change the world, as it is an inherent right and a powerful tool for strengthening social ties and promoting sustainable development and peace. For his part, He Ambassador Al-Jowder stressed that the celebration of the National Sports Day, in its sixth edition, aims to achieve sporting, health and social goals, enhance the concept of sport for all, achieve awareness of the importance of sport and its role in individuals’ lives and society in general and constitutes an opportunity to renew activity and spread the spirit of participation at all levels. The Ambassador and all the embassy’s diplomats and local employees expressed their deep thanks and appreciation for this initiative and the activities that reflect the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support and interest in sports activities, health and physical safety, as well as in cohesion and brotherhood. Embassy diplomats, local employees, members of the cultural attaché in Cairo, and a number of Bahraini students studying in Egypt participated in the activities and events of the Sports Day through a series of various sports programs and events, which were held at the Gezira Youth Center in Cairo. Ambassador Al-Jowder expressed his thanks to the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports for the ministry's cooperation in making the event a success and exchanged memorial shields with him.
