Bahrain to host forum on oil prices fall, impact

Manama, May 30 (BNA): Oil prices fall, its impact on GCC economies forum on Tuesday will be held under the patronage of Energy Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza. The forum is staged by Al-Ahlia University in coordination with the National Oil and Gas Authority. Energy Minister said the forum accentuates the leadership's interest in promoting energy sector and its keenness to boost cooperation in energy and oil industries for the benefit of national economy. He added that the current challenges in the field of energy amid the sharp fall in oil prices necessitate strengthening the GCC countries' investments for the protection of their economies from the sharp oil prices volatility. The forum will tackle reasons for the drop in oil prices and short and long term measures taken by oil countries and companies. A wide participation is expected of local and Gulf officials in the energy sector to discuss the challenges faced by the sector, as well as energy policies and funding available for institutions operating in the region.
