Bahrain human rights strides highlighted

Manama, Dec. 9 (BNA): Assistant Foreign Minister, Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahraim continues its success and builds on its legislatice, executive and judicial achievements in all human rights fields, pointing out the Kingdom’s keenness through its efforts and initiatives to consolidate the values of human rights and its national heritage that is based on respecting the principles of equality and democracy, in light of the pioneering reform approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He also underlined that the Human Rights Day occurs on December 10 of every year, pointing out this year’s theme “Youth Standing Up for Human Rights.”. In this regard, he stressed the Kingdom’s efforts in supporting the youth and protecting their rights, as well as providing the right programs and opportunities for them to qualify them and stress their roles in the society. He also noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain has taken unprecedented steps in the political and democratic reform within the framework of consolidating the state of law and law institutions, the exercise of the legislative authority, and enhancing the independence and integrity of the judiciary in ensuring a fair trial and freedom to form civil, political and professional associations and trade union, ensuring freedom of the press and information, protecting economic freedom, and achieving concrete achievements in the field of human and sustainable development. He added that the Kingdom of Bahrain has made qualitative achievements by establishing and forming independent human rights institutions to protect and respect human rights, namely National Institute for Human Rights in accordance with the Paris Principles, the Special Investigation Unit of the Public Prosecution, Ombudsman, and the Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission. The Assistant Foreign Minister praised the efforts of the Supreme Council for Women, under the Presidency of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), in the advancement of women and their full rights in a framework of equality, equal opportunities and social justice in accordance with the constitution and without prejudice to the provisions of Islamic Sharia. He also reflected his pride in the Kingdom’s historic record in the respect of religious freedoms, hailing the many awards received by the Kingdom for its national and international activities in the field of Human Rights.
