Bahrain to participate in GITEX 2017

Manama, Sep. 12 (BNA): Tamkeen and Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) held an open meeting with a total of 45 Bahraini Exhibitors that will exhibit in this year’s Bahrain Pavilion at GITEX which will be held on October 8-12 in Dubai World Trade Centre. This meeting aimed to orient all the exhibitors regarding the support that Tamkeen and BTECH is offering for their participation. Coordination was being done by Tamkeen and BTECH through the meeting briefing wherein all the participating and target companies attended. The meeting reviewed the latest organizer's arrangements to promote the benefits of participating in this global technical event, all so to achieve the best use for the ICT sector in Bahrain. During the meeting, the participants were briefed about the event program and floor plan and sections. 45 companies are expected to participate this year, an increase of nearly 20% from the previous year. This will contribute to keeping abreast of global developments in the ICT sector and enhancing the presence of Bahrain’s IT industry in regional forums, increasing its contribution to national output. Tamkeen's continued support of Bahrain's participation in GITEX stems from its keenness to promote Bahrain’s Information Communication Technology sector, which plays a significant role in raising the productivity and competitive capacity of private sector institutions. Tamkeen’s Chief Executive Dr Ebrahim M. Janahi said that information technology and electronics trade are deemed one of the fastest growing fields in the world. He stressed that encouraging participation in Gitex allows Bahraini IT companies to extend their products and services to regional and international markets. "This is in line with Tamkeen’s strategic objectives to develop support programs for the private sector, of which the information and communication technology industry constitutes a high percentage," Dr Janahi added. Board Chairman of BTECH Obaidly Al-Obaidly stressed that Tamkeen's continuous support of GITEX participants has always contributed to the development of these companies as well as increasing their competitiveness and their sales. He commended the effectiveness of such support within Tamkeen’s constant developmental process. Ahmed Al-Hujairi, CEO of Worksmart, the organising company of Bahrain’s National Pavilion at GITEX said: "Tamkeen has always been our strong supporter in marking a distinguished Bahraini presence at GITEX, the international forum for IT professionals across the world, which consequently boosts the performance of the ICT industry in Bahrain".
