Bahrain participates in Democracy and Human Rights meeting

Kigali, Oct. 12 (BNA): Shura Council Second Deputy Chairperson Jamila Ali Salman participated in the Committee on Democracy and Human Rights meeting, which was held within the 145th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meetings in Rwanda. She noted that Bahrain has an integrated legislative, judicial and executive system that cooperate to fight human trafficking, expressing her pride in the efforts acheived by the the Kingdom in this field. Jameela said that Bahrain takes an approach that is based on preserving human rights and respecting all relevant international laws and conventions, in addition to its keenness on the continuous development of its legislative, procedural and administrative tools to keep up with the developments of this crime. The second deputy chairperson highlighted that Bahrain obtained the first category classification for the fifth year in the reports of the US State Department reports on the classification of countries in the fight against human trafficking. "This indicates the extent of the country's commitment to international standards and conventions, and its efforts in enhance the values of human rights while insuring to apply values ​​based on the principles of respect, equality and justice," she said.
