Bahrain participates in IsDB Group meeting

Manama, Apr. 4 (BNA): Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has led Bahrain’s delegation to the 43rd Annual Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group in Tunisia's capital Tunis, which was inaugurated by the Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed.  The Tunisian Prime Minister stressed the need to intensify joint effort of IsDB member states in the field of sustainable development, while providing the appropriate environment for investment and trade and enhancing the role of the private sector as a driving force for the development process. He also called for the accomplishment of economic and financial reforms and the creation of new job opportunities and innovative economic sectors. The minister commended the group’s 10-year strategic framework as an essential tool for strengthening governance and capacity building, and called for striking a balance between meeting the financing engagements of the group towards member states on one hand, and preserving its financial stability on the other.  He also highlighted the positive impact of the IsDB’s five-year programme, and the significance of the priorities identified through the scheme, which involve more vigorous approach in achieving the strategic objectives of the group, while enhancing its leading status among multilateral financial institutions.
