Bahrain participates in NAM health ministers meeting

Geneva, May 19 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation participated today in the eighth meeting of Non-Alligned Movement (NAM) Health Ministers, which approved a proposed bill in which the ministers request from the World Health Organisation (WHO) to support the efforts of NAM-member countries aimed to build healthcare systems and prevent, contain, unravel Ebola spread in future. The ministers urged the member countries and relevant international agencies to end Israeli infringement of the health situation in occupied Palestinian territories (OPTs) and the Syrian Golan Heights by lifting the Israeli siege and its repercussions on the health situation and the provision of essential support and assistance. The WHO's Director General announced the organisation's commitment to introduce some basic changes to enable the WHO to perfect the work for the sake of which it has been created, by creating a consolidated new programme for health emergencies.
