Bahrain reiterates supports to Palestine

Manama, Nov. 29 (BNA): The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Regional and GCC Affairs, Ambassador Waheed Mubarak Sayyar, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain has employed its diplomacy and membership in various United Nations bodies to support the Palestinian cause. In his speech at the United Nations House in Manama on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the Ambassador said: "We in the Kingdom of Bahrain are deeply concerned by the continued Israeli occupation practices of the policies of killing, siege and settlement, which constitute a flagrant violation of the United Nations resolutions and international conventions. These practices resulted in great suffering inflicted on the Palestinian people and are a threat to international peace and security. Violence will only need to more violence and tensions." The Ambassador affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain will continue to support the Palestinian brothers in every possible way and in all forums, expressing hope that the goals and aspirations of the Palestinian people to live in peace and security in a free, sovereign and independent state, will be achieved. He also noted the Kingdom’s call upon the international community to exert more efforts to restore the Palestinian people's rights and achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions, the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative of 2002 which calls for Israel's full withdrawal from the occupied Arab territories to the borders of the 4 June 4 1967, the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the return of refugees. The Ambassador hailed the role played by the United Nations in supporting the Palestinian cause. He also expressed deep regret that this international organization had not yet been able to put an end to the Israeli occupation of the occupied Arab territories or to end the decades-long Palestinian suffering, which requires the international community to exert more efforts at all levels to reach just and comprehensive peace.
