Bahrain, Saudi review planned projects

Manama, July 18 (BNA): Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry Undersecretary Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Khayyat held a meeting with officials representing the Saudi Development Fund (SDF).
The meeting focused on progress of work on key road projects, in addition o the King Abdulla Medical City.
The Undersecretary hailed deep-rooted fraternal relations binding Riyadh and Manama in all fields, lauding support to projects lined up by the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry.
The two sides reviewed the roads leading to the housing project Lawzy in Hamad Town, the revamping of entrances to the Bahrain International Airport, the expansion and revamping of Al-Fateh Highway and other key roads and infrastructure schemes.
The meeting focused on the King Abdulla Medical City, being constructed for the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) under a SR165 million package as part of the GCC Development Programme for Bahrain.
The two-phased landmark project includes a academic medical centre, an administrative building, staff accommodation, a child care centre, parking lots and other infrastructure components.
The second phase includes the expansion of the academic medical centre, the construction of the medical school, scientific research labs, a conference centre, a medical hotel and other key facilities.
