Bahrain shines at PhotoMeeting Forum in Oman

Muscat, Oct. 30 (BNA): The Seventh International PhotoMeeting Forum was hosted in Oman on October 24 - 31. The biennial conference for photographers from all over the world was organised by the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), founded in 1946. Around 180 participants from 28 different countries participated in the forum, including the Kingdom of Bahrain, whose membership was represented by the Bahrain Arts Society. Ten Bahraini photographers participated in the Black and White photo competition, with one photo for each photographer under the theme of Child and Education. The participating group took into account the learning environment across different societies. The Bahraini photographers were Shafiq Al Sharqi, Mohamed Bu Hassan, Isa Ibraheem, Faisal Khalaf, Nader Al-Bazzaz, Herz Al Banki, Saeed Dahi, Hassan Al Taif, Nahi Ali and Sawsan Taher. Bahrain was ranked fifth among the 46 countries and it was the only Arab country in the top 20. During the forum, the participants visited five exhibitions and took trips to important archaeological and tourist sites, which enabled them to take pictures. The members of the Board of Directors consulted during the visit with relevant organisations in Oman regarding the development of cooperation between Bahrain and the Sultanate in training and development of photographic skills, the exchange of experiences and the establishment of joint exhibitions. The participating photographers extended their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain's National Council for Arts and the Honorary President of the Bahrain Arts Society, for his continued support and encouragement to the arts, artists and photographers in Bahrain. The participants will hold a Photography Exhibition to display the outcome of the PhotoMeeting forum and the winning works.
