Bahrain takes part in GCC health meetings

04 : 27 PM - 14/10/2016 Riyadh, Oct. 14 (BNA): Minister of Health, Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh headed the kingdom’s delegation to the third meeting of the Health Ministers’ Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held here on Thursday. The meeting reviewed the implementation of the resolutions of the GCC Supreme Council and the ministerial committee. It also discussed a number of issues that consolidate joint GCC cooperation and coordination and help to achieve the common strategic goals adopted by GCC states to support joint health programmes and services. Topics on the agenda included the executive bill regulating GCC citizens’ equal access to health services, the GCC stockpile of drugs, vaccines and medical supplies, the formation of a specialised committee to prepare a work plan for the GCC Health Ministers’ Committee. It also included coordinating GCC stances at heath gatherings, unified health procedures at border exists of member states, sustainable development goals in the health fields, and the Health and Wellness Project. Al-Saleh also took part in the 80th session of GCC Health Ministers, which tackled a number of important topics, such as expats’ health screening, unified purchasing, new tenders, the GCC Central Drug Registration, in addition to several essential topics. The session also adopted the Bahrain-based Princess Al-Jawhara Centre for Molecular Medicine, Genetics, and Inherited Disorders as an accredited GCC centre.
