Bahrain Telecommunications, IT and e-economy strategy hailed

Manama, Feb. 4 (BNA): The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) commended Bahrain’s new strategy to develop the sector of telecommunications, information technology and e-economy (2022-20026. It described the four-year roadmap as a pioneering step that contributes to enhancing Bahrain’s level in the e-participation index within the UN e-government report and promoting the efficiency of the Government’s services through e-transformation. ITU Regional Office for the Arab Countries Director Adel Mohammed Darwish commended Bahrain’s strategy which, he said, supports economic development, services and productive sectors. He noted Bahrain’s strong digital infrastructure which contributes to fast-tracking digital transformation, adding that the four-year blueprint comes within the framework of the economic recovery roadmap which would further consolidate the Kingdom’s standing towards achieving the 2020 Economic Vision.
