Bahrain-UAE cooperation in housing field discussed

Manama, Oct. 10 (BNA): Housing Minister, Bassim bin Yacub Al-Hamar, held a working meeting with the UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of the Shaikh Zayed Housing Programme Abdulla bin Balhaif Al-Nuaimi, on the sidelines of the third Arab Ministerial Forum for Housing and Urban Development, in the presence of the members of the two countries’ delegations. They reviewed the deep-rooted relations between Bahrain and the UAE in various fields, especially housing. Al-Hamar stressed that the UAE has managed to present a unique example of sustainable urban development thanks to its distinction in developing the social housing sector, affirming the similarity of the two countries’ housing experiences in terms of goals and programmes, which, he said, contributes to supporting Arab and GCC efforts to create a common vision on ways to achieve sustainable development goals. The minister highlighted the UAE’s contributions to supporting the social housing sector in the kingdom, either through the Zayed Town Project, or the support of the current housing projects through the Gulf Development Programme, stressing the importance of continuous cooperation between the two brotherly countries through the exchange of expertise and experiences. The UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development lauded the efforts being exerted by Bahrain to build new towns and launch innovative initiatives in partnership with the private sector, wishing the kingdom further progress.
