Bahrain-UK joint security work team holds meeting

London, Oct.17 (BNA): The joint security work team between the Interior Ministry of Bahrain and the United Kingdom has held the 8th meeting in London. The event was chaired by the Chief of Public Security, Major-General and Head of International Cooperation and Delivery Team (ICDT) of the UK Home Office, Mark Challen, in the presence of representatives of security officials from both sides. In the beginning, the Chief briefed the attendees about the latest security situations and the development and modernisation founded by His Excellency Interior Minister that led to the reduction of crime rates and promoted to the capabilities to fight terrorism and organised crimes. The Chief highlighted the regional security situations and the need to strengthen security cooperation and coordination to protect the safety of marine navigation and energy resources. The Chief highlighted the plans and projects for the civil defence to reinforce general safety, through training of personnel to deal with certain accidents and utilisation of modern technology. He highlighted the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides to exchange expertise in training to support development efforts of the Bahrain International Airport using advanced aviation security technologies. He asserted the dedication of the Interior Ministry to promote airport security. The meeting discussed security cooperation and future projects in fighting terrorism and cybercrimes.
