Bahrain-UNDP joint projects reviewed

Manama, Feb. 21 (BNA): CEO of the Urban Planning and Development Authority, Shaikh Nayef bin Khalid Al Khalifa, today discussed with UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, Amin Al Sharkawi, the UNDP programs to be implemented in Bahrain, in addition to benefiting from international expertise in urban planning and development.
The UPDA CEO discussed joint projects between the two sides on conserving heritage characters of old cities, praising the UNDP role in training national cadres and preserving heritage sites.
The meeting also discussed promoting urban planning in Bahrain and attracting international expertise to benefit training programmes and joint projects.
The Ministry of Works and Urban Planning has sought the UNDP expertise in implementing a number of projects, including a capacity building project to restore historic buildings in Manama and Muharraq.
