Bahrain-US strategic alliance hailed

Manama, July 16 (BNA): Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, met today the Assistant to US President and Special Representative for International Negotiations, Jason Greenblatt, at the premises of the Diplomatic Mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain in New York . During the meeting, they discussed the strong relations of friendship, the strategic alliance between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States, developments in the Middle East and resumption of the peace process. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa expressed the pride of the Kingdom of Bahrain in its close and solid partnership with the United States which extends over decades of mutual trust and fruitful cooperation. He noted the progress of bilateral cooperation in many fields and the continued closer coordination and consultations between the two countries to promote common interests and meet the aspirations of the two friendly countries and peoples. The Undersecretary for International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the efforts of the United States and its pivotal role in establishing security, stability and international peace, stressing the Kingdom's support for all measures aimed at reinforcing security and peace and combating terrorism. He highlighted the vital role played by the Kingdom of Bahrain in combating extremism and terrorism and the close cooperation between the two countries in confronting common challenges and eradicating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, praising US designation of Al-Ashtar Brigades as a terrorist organization as part of its efforts to protect international stability and security. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's firm position in supporting the aspirations of the brotherly Palestinian people and their legitimate right to establish an independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as capital, as per the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative that laid down the bases for comprehensive and just peace in the region.
