Bahraini-British Joint Working Group holds meeting

Manama, June 2 (BNA): The seventh meeting of the Bahraini-British Joint Working Group was held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary, Ambassador Dr Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah, and the UK Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Middle East, and North Africa at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Tobias Ellwood.
Also present were UK Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Simon Martin, and Head of the Public Security Chief, Major General Tariq Hassan, as well as a number of representatives of the relevant ministries from the two countries.
The meeting reviewed the Bahraini-British relations and ways of developing and expanding them in all fields, with special focus on the areas of trade, investment, and education in order to increase the size of investments and trade exchange between the two countries to further advanced levels and to avail from all potential investment opportunities to allow the two countries establish further economic relations and exchange scientific and educational experiences, as well as joint cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
The two sides also discussed ways and means of strengthening the mechanisms of consultation and cooperation in the reform and development programs and human rights for the benefit of both countries. The meeting stressed that the relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom are based on a solid ground and they are continuously growing and progressing at all levels.
The meeting also covered the latest issues and developments at the regional and international arenas, as well as on the development of the mechanisms of coordination between the two sides on all issues at various international forums. They hailed the bicentennial year of relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, noting the diverse events and activities held in this regard during this year.
