Bahraini-Egyptian agricultural cooperation discussed

Manama, Sep 1(BNA): Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al Khalifa, today discussed with Ambassador Suha Abdulqadir of Egypt to Bahrain arrangements for the joint bilateral meeting scheduled to be held in Cairo next October in implementation of the directives of Bahrain's leadership based on the results of HM the King's recent visit to Egypt. The undersecretary pointed out the importance of enhancing cooperation in the agricultural and veterinary field with Egypt for its long experience. He noted that the meeting focused on the implementation of the technical program 2016-2017 signed between the two countries during HM the King's visit to Egypt. He said that the anticipated meeting between the two sides targets maximizing the benefit from the existing technical program and to develop a future vision for the technical exchange program 2018-2019, which is based on setting out a work program for the establishment of an agricultural research center in Bahrain to conduct agricultural and veterinary researches, including planting plant tissues, animal vaccines, agricultural pest control, as well as researches on lands and water and date palm care. He added the research center will also serve GCC countries in the same field. The Egyptian Ambassador lauded the development of the Bahraini-Egyptian relations, chiefly agricultural cooperation. She stressed the meeting comes within the framework of activating agreements signed between the two countries in various areas, commending the undersecretary's keenness to boost cooperation between the two sides.
