Bahraini-Egyptian judicial cooperation discussed

Cairo, Aug. 6 (BNA): The President of the Supreme Constitutional Court of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Counselor Dr. Hanafi Ali Gebali, received today the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of Egypt, Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League and Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps in Cairo, Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa. During the meeting, Shaikh Rashid congratulated Counselor Gebali on the unanimous approval of the General Assembly of the Supreme Constitutional Court for his selection as President of the Supreme Constitutional Court, and pointed out his high judicial and legal expertise and contributions to the service of the Arab constitutional judiciary, wishing him the best in fulfilling the duties of his new position. Shaikh Rashid stressed the deep and solid relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Republic of Egypt in various fields, including the distinguished judicial relations of mutual cooperation. He also noted the important and pivotal role played by the Constitutional Court in both countries and their great efforts in promoting and consolidating the principles of truth, justice, rule of law and respect for the Constitution. Shaikh Rashid also referred to the prestigious position of the Constitutional Court in the Kingdom of Bahrain as one of the pillars of the establishment of modern constitutional monarchy, which reflects the principles of the comprehensive reform approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to protect the rule of law and its immunity, and safeguard the rights and freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution. For his part, Counselor Gebali welcomed the Bahraini Ambassador and expressed his pride and appreciation for the strong brotherly relations existing between the two countries. He also praised the advanced and distinguished level of the constitutional court in the Kingdom of Bahrain and its role in establishing constitutional principles, thanks to the independence and impartiality of the judicial authority, stressing that the Kingdom of Bahrain is an established state when it comes to recognizing freedoms and citizens' rights. The meeting also reviewed ways to enhance and develop joint cooperation and exchange of experiences and information in the field of constitutional justice between the two brotherly countries. (MOFA)
