Bahraini media figure granted top Arab award

Cairo, May 9 (BNA): Bahraini media figure and journalist, Sawsan Al-Shaer, has been granted the Arab Media Excellence Award in the field of television, within the awards presented during the 49th session of the Arab Information Ministers’ Council, held today at the Arab League’s headquarters here. Presented by the Arab League’s Information and Communication Sector, the prestigious award is a new national achievement that adds to the rich record of honourable accomplishments of the Bahraini Media and Bahraini women. Al-Shaer expressed her great pleasure in the Arab honouring, conferred on her during the celebrations of the Bahrain Press Day and Arab Media Day. She asserted that the exploit was achieved thanks to the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to responsible media freedoms, paying tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, for her unwavering keenness on supporting and empowering Bahraini women to be worthy partners in the comprehensive sustainable development process. Al-Shaer extended thanks and appreciation to the Information Affairs Minister, Ali bin Mohammed Al-Romaihi, and all Bahraini TV’s officials and national media and technical staff for their support and facilities they had provided, which, she said, had enabled her to carry out her media mission of defending national and Arab issues, as well as serving society.
